Missing Remotes...

Believe it or not, the remote in our house had never previously gone missing for more than 30 minutes - and so when it disappeared for a week, then a month... I was considering ordering a replacement and hoping for the best...  after all, if it hadn't been seen in that long - it was never going to turn up right?  I was really hoping to find it before Father's Day and gift it to Hubby since he was the one most distraught by its absence... but no such luck.
Replacements are available - running between $16 and $40 - and I was planning to post an order today...

Well, as much as I wanted to sleep in this morning - I was rudely awakened by Po running in and shouting that he'd found the remote... I quickly put aside the annoyance because the impossibility of it all blew me away.  Yes, the remote had been tucked in the storage compartment of a little folding duo chair thingamabob and had been there for a month - the funny part being that it's been lost there before so we should have known to look - but that chair isn't even kept in the TV room anymore.  Dad was so excited he paid the boy $3... of course, he's still angling for a pick from the prize box as well...

Now I have hope for my ring... which disappeared around the same time - dang, I was hoping they were stuck together at least!

That's a good feeling. To find something so beloved as a remote! Shows how lazy we are...but a seriously important invention.

Is this your wedding ring you've lost?

It shows how we can adapt to anything. Getting up and actually changing our own channels...AMAZING. How much will Q pay me if I find your ring accidentally?

it's my wedding ring... and I try not to dwell on it too long because then I get all frantic... Meg, I'm sure you'd get at least $3, maybe four if he happened to have that many ones in his wallet :) It's one of those "I KNOW I put it right here... or here maybe, and it should still be there!" things - but despite looking on top of every household surface and under the baseboards, no go... I haven't given up, but I am starting to feel awkward when I'm out without the kids running errands and some guy is chatting in the grocery line... is this being friendly, is this flirting... would I remember what that was like? I just quickly mention my hubby and 5 kids and then come home and look once again :)

The remote was actually for the DVD player, and it was only annoying on rare occasions because we couldn't do the "scene selection" thing without the remote... which meant having to FF through already watched Pink Panther cartoons and not seeing the alternate endings for Clue... which I'm not sure are going to be worth it in the long run now that I've seen the movie...

I hope you find your ring since it is the only reminder I have of what mine used to look like before I lost it. You can maybe get a 8 dollar band at Walmart to keep you from feeling too awkward. I hope it shows up soon. After five years I still find myself looking for mine. There is still hope!

I wonder what percentage of people lose their wedding rings? Mom lost her engagement ring, and I've always found that such a sad, tragic story. I'm always surprised mine hasn't just flown off because when I'm cold it gets really loose.

How funny that Q gave Po $3--it shows how truly special the find was! Good luck finding your ring. Until then it could be fun to wear one of those big old sparkly rocks from Target.
