You see, Some crazy book-fair lady (CBFL?) has done up about 500 flyers to send home with the kids... only in her haste and inattention, she has printed the wrong date on all of the flyers and then distributed them to the teachers. Then, in trying to fix her little problem she manages to pull the librarian away from her real job and is literally running up and down the halls (trading bad flyers for good) dragging her poor little child from classroom to classroom. I was a little worried for that poor tot who had to run to keep up!!!
THEN the CBFL doesn't just go home - no, she feels it necessary to stay at the school for the next 5 or 6 hours taking care of all the nit-picky details just so those teachers can see the finished product before days' end. Okay lady - go to the store already, don't you still need to get the rest of the book-fair stuff... wasn't there some work you needed to take care of at home... isn't there laundry to be done and dishes piling up at YOUR house?
Okay - I'm done venting... now I need to take my poor tot to the store with me, where she more than earned a treat just for not having a complete melt down while waiting for her mom/CBFL to finish fixing all the problems she caused :)

Oh, snap! Yeah, I'm too old for that to be cool, but really, that stinks!!
I think the CBFL needs a minute to *breathe in, breathe out* hahaha!
Ohhhh, and I love book fairs. But I'm thinking if my school had a chick like that it would totally ruin it for me.
Sorry for the CBFL!
Em
I was going to go all lecture-mode on how that CBFL really should have double checked her dates before printing and passing them out...but then I had the lightbulb moment where I realized that was you. So now my tone is much more sympathetic. And poor M. I hope she picked a really big treat. Like a gallon of ice cream.
May no more problems arise.
BTW--your Far World author visited our school. I heard about it from Ike after the fact. It felt like he was family so I got a little excited.
Hi T, Don't be too hard on yourself, everyone makes mistakes on fliers. Your description of yourself as the CBFL is really funny. But I guess it wasn't funny at the time. I think you are really a SFVM (super fabulous voluntering mom). The librarian just snagged me to work the book fair next week.... it's totally dysfunctional up there! ha.
Hey, don't be to hard on yourself! As a teacher we LOVE volunteers like you! Everybody makes mistakes:D So what did M get as a treat? and her mom needs a treat too!
What a day. I could see myself messing up flyers and trying to fix them and getting a bigger and bigger desire to go somewhere where I could scream and cry all by myself -- and maybe hug the toddler. You really are great to volunteer so three cheers for you.
I usually just mispell things on flyers and make my husband embarrassed!! It o.k. though...breathe in breathe out! Good for you for volunteering!
Did you get some fun prizes. It sounds like you are going the extra mile to make it an extra cool book fair. Hope it all goes well.
CBFL...yikes! I've done similiar things...
Tonya you always do more than needs be. We all have our moments. Hope things go well this week.
