Hobbies and Talents... or just ways to waste time.

H got invited to a last minute birthday party last Friday - and although I wasn't thrilled about running and trying to find an appropriate gift at the last possible second, I did want her to go since it was at the gymnastics studio I keep considering for the girls.  First they played "chicken" on a balance board - H rocked at this game - you go girl!

H jumped right into the fun, M kept back for awhile, testing the bouncy floor and such - but they allowed us to stay in the gym and observe while the party was happening... it wasn't long before M was jumping into the foam pit (repeatedly) and needing help to get out.  She's convinced that gymnastics is a lot of fun - I'll worry about letting her in on the discipline side if Q ever comes around.

T & W like to fill their spare time - when I don't allow video games - with anything that will also fill their tummies.  On this occasion they decided to bake a cake, and I caught them before they could remove the pink aprons (but the pink baker's hats were ditched faster) ... hmmm, should have cropped out that cluttered counter before putting the picture up 'eh?
As anyone familiar with the Po-boy knows, his favorite hobby is eating - and complaining about food... he did both as soon as the cake was done.

Myself - I decided that it was time to use some of the many scrapbook supplies that I have been "collecting" and I have successfully caught up to last years' back to school pages!  This is pathetic I know - but it is a step in the right direction.  Maybe when the kids go back to school I'll be getting closer to caught up...  yeah, right :)

Wow I'm like 7 blogs behind in commenting. I kept trying to figure out what kind of book is "in me" and I finally think it must be a book of beginnings. In other words -- I think I could start lots of books but figuring out how to end them is lots harder! I think getting caught up to the beginning of next school year is great! I don't think I'm up that far. I also liked your "simplify your life week". I'm flunking at it since I volunteered to coach Jake's soccer team. Go team!

If your'e doing a giveaway then I would prefer a pink apron and hat to scrapbook supplies! Them boys sure look purrty. How long did the cake last? I don't know if I'm ready to unleash chefs in my kitchen unless they promised to make vegetable and fruit dishes.
I love the idea of a gymnastics studio just to play in. Why does Q say no to lessons? I can see him cheering his daughters on at all the meets....

Ha ha...I bet T and W were maybe just a wee bit embarrassed you posted the picture? I love it. And that party looks so fun! I would love to play that combat game in the foam. I think we should do that for our next reunion.

I wonder that they wore aprons at all. Must be a family habit or there must have been some sort of halloween element. Boredom is the mother of invention--or was that necessity?

Tonya I have to say I love the pink aprons. That is such a blackmail photo. I can't wait to show it to the boys. At least the boys aprons are camalflodge(not sure on the spelling)

the aprons are really the girls' - and the boys thought they were hilarious until I pulled out the camera... T cracked up when he saw the picture here on the blog... but knowing that friends are viewing it might change things a tad :)

The cake was gone by the next morning (cake is a breakfast food right?) and I'm thinking it's time to teach them to make some cream cheese or pumpkin cookies
