Major/Minor... whatev...

Our family has a lot of birthdays crammed in with the Holiday Season - the youngest is more familiar with which event is coming next than with the months of the year.  (oh PLEASE let that not be true...)

With all of this fun there's a little bit of forgetfulness about which holidays actually bear celebrating...  so on President's Day Eve we're not COMPLETELY surprised when this happens

Po: "so what's the special breakfast for President's Day?"
Mom: "special, how about Cheerios?"
Po: "it's a holiday Mom!"
Mom: "so... what sounds good..."
Po: "Presidents eat donuts right?"

no - those were not OUR donuts - but M.O.T.H. did break down and pick some up for FHE treats...  apparently presidents DO eat donuts :)

Oh, yeah . . .! (unless my kids are abnormal along with yours, it's pretty normal for them to know more about which holiday it is than which month. They do figure it out when they get older .. )

I love having Oldest in kindergarten - keeps me up to date on all these wonderful Holidays - like Presidents need a day?

Isn't it President's Day every day in their world?

Side note: I was cleaning out his folder last night, and out fell a picture of George Washington. Oldest had colored him black. I LOVE that! Amazing how it will never seem different to them. (even if I didn't vote for him :-)

Mmmm, donuts.

E.M. - last year (before the vote) you could tell which families were pulling for Obama by who was coloring Lincoln and Washington black in first grade :) I'd almost forgotten about that!

Those look so good! That picture is not helping my not-eat-junk-food-motto.

I'm really having to stop myself from rushing out to the store to buy donuts now. (or cheerios, i love cheerios!)

I'm all for holidays that require donuts for breakfast. My weird kids don't agree with me so I'd be stuck with a dozen for meself. I could think of worse things....
