Pssst, hey Kid - you wanna Tattoo?

Apparently I fell down and broke my funny bone because I'm having a hard time feeling witty - but since I semi-dedicated my Tuesday blog to peace and quiet and a clean home (and not adding to Heidi's crazy Wednesdays) I really have to post something today or else everyone's going to jump ship!

Tuesday: As part of the annual PTA days at our local Harmon's Grocery Store I will be spending a few hours standing around and giving little temporary Tattoos to children that are usually kicking, screaming, and whining for a box of Twinkies... oh wait, not everyone's kids do that?

I appreciate that this store does this - mostly because it provides a few bucks to the PTA coffers which makes it possible to eliminate the need for selling ridiculously priced wrapping paper to grandparents who REALLY don't want it but feel obligated to support their grand-children!  So... If you happen to live near enough a Harmon's store you could run and pick up a box of Twinkies or two... they're infinitely better than wrapping paper... especially frozen... yummm...

PS - and if you happen to live near enough to MY Harmon's store... and if you're thinking "Whoa - it's a public appearance by T!!!"  well, I'll be there between 1 and 3 o-clock defacing innocent young arms - but I'm not signing any copies of my blog posts... unless of course you bring a Twinkie!

PPS - PLEASE don't bring any Twinkies...  really, I need at least 48 hours to let my body recover from all of the bad eating done in this house over the weekend...  besides, there's a whole box of frozen Twinkies in my freezer that I'm trying to get the kids to take for lunches before my will power gives out!  Besides, I have to go straight to the Orthodontist office after my volunteer shift and it's just plain cruel to walk into that place with processed pastry breath!
Although I might give in for a yellow Zinger...  Okay No - I'm going to be good, really :)

How do I know if I live near your Harmon's if you don't happen to mention which one that is... :)

lol @ Barbaloot!

I think that is a great idea for the PTA. I wish mine did this. By, the 2nd week of school this year we had two fundraisers of various varieties going. Yay! I only have so much family.

Cool! I'll swing by later. Oh, wait...

I know Twinkies are the fruits of the devil, but they're so tasty! I'll have to try them frozen.

I live right by a Harmons. It's probably the same one. Just look for me in my Snuggie.

And I love the Harmons salad bar. Delicious!

Seriously!!? You are going to abstain on Tuesdays?!?!? I honestly don't expect you to do that--but it's sweet of you to say so and to link to me. You rock!

Sounds like a fun fundraiser! At least you guys can get away with guilty pleasures, at our school they do a FUNRUN where the kids do laps around the school parking lot to raise funds for the PTO.

KP - if you show up in your snuggie I'll give YOU the twinkies!!!

Heidi - well, I can't say how long it'll last, but Tuesday's as good as any for catching up on laundry - so I'll at least abstain from posting... I don't think I can abstain from reading and commenting (unless of course my computer is acting up again and won't let me open more than one window at a time... grrr...)

Seriously, this sounds WAY better than jogathons or coupon books or magazine sales....almost as good as frozen cookie dough or frozen strudel....for a fundraiser! Sweet deal! I've never heard of Harmon's, but if Trader Joe's would be interested, I'd love to hook up with them for a school fundraiser! Good luck!

Hey we do a Papa John's night, where if you order or have it delivered, So much of the profit goes to our school. The class with the most participation gets pizza lunch! Also we do a Chick-a-flit night. Teachers work there and the kids all love to come see there teachers work at a stupid shift and get chicken tenders.

Anything beats selling stuff, doesn't it?

SHOOT!!! I read it too late! I could have dropped by after my interview and on my way to job #2! Yippee!!! Ok...no pedi this week, I am in the process of recovering from a BAD ingrown toe nail. I get them often! It usually takes a week and a half to calm down. It started on Sat. But we definitely have to get together for lunch. I will find out my second schedule this week so we can arrange a lunch!!!

Tattoos and twinkies? Very interesting....I have yet to actually hit any relative up for the wrapping paper, frozen cookie dough and other over-priced items our school tries to sell. But I'm killer at clipping off those Boxtops!

In two hours of sitting behind that table I think I only put on about 12 tattoos (handed out a few to adults who were taking them for their "kids") and since the table looked directly at the meat counter - I also became a vegetarian... as long as I can be the kind of vegetarian who eats lobster tail... because I listened to the butcher pitch that for two hours and finally caved...

of course, I get to wait until Saturday to EAT them... with unsexy toes...
