We are Living in a Material World

and I am a Material Girl!

Seriously - I love shopping for fabric...
Fabrics by the metre
I touch it - match it - drape it - and imagine it sewn into perfect household accents and cute outfits for the girls.  (I was long ago banned from sewing for the boys)

But do I sew with it?

Not so much...

My Grandmother years ago started the local chapter of the "She Who Dies With The Most Fabric Wins Club"
Funny Quilters Quote Ornament (Round)- my Mother is the vice president - and I was inducted as soon as I got enough room to store a few boxes of my own fabric.  ManOfTheHouse would love me to renounce my membership... and I try - I donate some to the local Young Women's projects... a neighbor... or even the middle school... but then Mom or Grandma will donate some of their spare to my efforts and my shelves are full once again...

But Wait!  Before you think that I haven't sewn ANYTHING at all this year - I present evidence:
I threw together seat back covers (2 minutes each... not counting lettering - not exactly rocket science) for our church primary.  The sad thing is that my shelves look just as crowded as ever...  wasn't this supposed to deplete my stash somewhat?

and for the record - I actually DID write the above post BEFORE April pooh-poohed my new scrapbook stash... actually before I got the new scrapbook stash...  but she did remind me of this so I went in to schedule it finally :)

Scrapbooking AND sewing? I don't know if we can be friends. How do you feel about gardening? Please say you kill things.

Oh gosh-I can't begin to sew ANYTHING! I see all those pretty fabrics, and I want to make something...but I know I can't.

With our upcoming overseas move, we just had a massive yard sale. I was totally into getting rid of everything, that is, until it came to my fabric! Some of it I had no attachment to, but most of it ended up back in my car. No way, no how were those rubbermaid bins going anywhere, but back home with me! I guess I'm inducted into the club...

Maybe you could make those chair covers for all the other wards that don't have them. That could be your Eagle project that T jr. gets the credit for.

Megz - what a GREAT idea... I think...

and no fear KP - plants die when they hear me coming :)

(oh - haha, I was going to sign out and make this show my own face - but it's funnier if everyone thinks my FIL is reading my blog whereas I'm just stealing a little computer time while supposedly searching for discount tickets for the many fun places we're going to make it to this week...)

I always love your Halloween costumes. I went garage saling yesterday, and found the cutest ladybug costume, I almost bought it for me. (A little small) I have to start thinking of next year's book parade now:D

I'm SOOOOO Not a material girl... I covet being a material girl, but I am definitely NOT one! Just saying! :)

We are soul sisters about this as well. I think it is genetic and we have no control over it.

Glad you could use some of the skills.

Sadly the last time I moved I had to downsize my material stash as well. But I have pretty much given up on the sewing so it is probably for the best.

Well, there's no question that I'm addicted to fabric. Occupational hazard, I'm afraid. But my hubby doesn't mind, since I have a building, separate from the house, in which I house all my sewing projects and dozen or so tubs of "extra" fabric.

My favorite store on the planet is a place called Fabric Depot. It's like Disneyland for Sewaholics -- you can't see the whole store in a single day! Another favorite shop to stop at is Britex in San Francisco, which has FIVE STORIES of luscious, yummy textiles from all over the world!
