I'll use all the Words I Want Wednesday, thank you very much!

I seem to be making excuses all the time for why I'm not writing lengthy epistles about my life...

and today is no different...

You see I spent last week at Girls' Camp...  something my church does annually to prove that dirt won't kill you.

The bunks...

a little F.A.Q. - yes, they ARE stacked three high - no, there is no head room - yes, you can add some padding if you brought any - yes, I did bring some - no, not nearly enough - Yes, yes indeed, I could commit a heinous crime and have more personal space - and yes, there were a few moments where that was a temptation.

and now you know why I'm STILL tired.  Seriously, it was my own fault that I stayed up 'til ridiculous hours laughing around a campfire, but sleeping on those bunks?  *shudder* - next year I think I'll just sleep in my car.
The unexpected side-trip...
okay, so it wasn't ALWAYS a nice campfire and good conversation that kept us up into the wee hours of the morning.  The first night I blame it all on this sweet girl...  who by the time this picture was taken had been at camp for all of TEN minutes, gashed a hole in her knee, and received 6 stitches.  (the doctor said it needed 5... but 6 is her favorite number...  funny doctors make things a lot better!)

those of you who are paying close attention (and have been reading around here for a LONG time) will recognize my "cozy" wrapped around her shoulders... this was a HUGE thing for me...  I must love these girls a LOT :)  (haha, and completely off the camping subject, I just found out that post is the very first result if you google "snuggie smackdown")
The cute girls with happy smiles!
and you can see why I love them so...  even if I did end up with the icky "golden" leader shirt...  (that's me on the left balancing precariously on the edge of the table)

I'd share all the funny stories - but since some of my friends/leaders/my own spouse occasionally read this blog and since many of the funny stories MIGHT implicate others...  they'll just have to remain in my head... unless of course you come hang out... in which case prepare to be regaled with stories of fake blood, fireworks, bush-diving, and Karma finally getting her revenge...

For the record... I remain unconvinced on the whole "dirt won't kill you" thing...

When I did girls camp two years ago, we slept in tents, on the ground. I'm pretty sure I was more comfortable than you.

You have bunks at your camp? That's like a 5 star hotel compared to ours.

You are a true saint to share the beloved Cozy.

The very first year I was at Girl's Camp was in Big Bear. We had awesome cabins. It was all downhill from there. We had to slum it in tents.

What you said about sleeping in your car next time made me laugh because that's EXACTLY what I did.

Yep, I found my comfort in the back seat of my Astro van away from bugs and chatty girls.

For most of 4 years, I slept in 3-high racks with a 2-inch mattress abound the USS Oriskany (I'm sure prisoners have much better living conditions). The top rack was the best (awarded via seniority) because it had a little more head room.

It's hard to tell who is the leader and who are the young women. You fit right in with those cute little gals.

I only went to girls' camp once...it was only for the family night section. They wouldn't let me stay...even if the girl I was in love with was there.

Curses.

I noticed that the image with you in it was still small so we still don't get a clear look.

Crafty...very crafty.

This was my favorite year, by far, since I was there as a "guest feeder." R.S Presidency brought Cafe Rio, stayed for testimony meeting and then...WENT HOME TO OUR OWN BEDS! I know! Awesome!

I didn't mind going up this year---we had cabins with kitchenettes, full bathrooms and an a/c. Loved it!

My wife was YW Pres for 3 years and did not once get a bunk to sleep on. Count your blessings I guess. Also, she did not ever have any girl have to get stitches so it all evens out, I guess.

I don't see how camping in a bunkhouse can prove that dirt won't kill you. Whatever happened to putting up a tent and dealing with sleeping on the ground? Kids these days... ;)

Yes, I prefer camping in a hotel or a very nice cabin, but I will say that I LOVE hanging out with the girls and the other leaders. Glad you survived it all!

when you were a girl in YW did you stay in cabins? I didn't. I think a crowded bunk could be better than a tent with mice, (oh wait the cabins have mice too) (:

You always make me smile! Thank you for that. I'm glad you survived and I'll bet the girls were loving having you as one of their leaders!
