Maturing...

I'm going to admit it... I love the comics - not ALL the comics mind you, but every once in awhile there is a "laugh out loud make the rest of the family wonder if I'm choking" funny bit there...
and then quite often there are the comics that we relate to in a more "ooh, yeah - truth is kinda funny but I'm only going to snicker because otherwise I might cry" kind of way...

For many many years - the comic that I most related to was Baby Blues...
If you have more than 1/2 a child you can relate I'm sure...  And oddly enough - Wanda and her husband (whose name I can't remember and am far too lazy to look up) were having their 2nd and 3rd little sketches at the same time that our 2nd and 3rd sons were being born.  My oldest may take offense that he was constantly being compared to Zoe, but hey... if the shoe (or the panel) fits...

As we've grown into a slightly older family I have begun to relate to other comics besides Baby Blues... for instance...
Yep - this very comic is actually currently hanging on our bathroom door - where our boy T has been known to deplete the entire water supply for the region.  Jeremy's obsession with his friends, his music, and food - it all rings true.  The girl part...  ugh - I'm trying not to be THAT mature yet!!!

Sooooo, here's the interactive bit - how mature are you?  Are you into Family Circus?  Doonesbury?   Cathy?  (Man Of The House DESPISES Cathy... it's funny actually)

and hey, I really like Pearls Before Swine too... even though I can't say that I "relate" to anything about it... being human and all...

When I was younger, I used to read the Sunday comics religiously. But I haven't gotten the paper in years, and I lost interest!

Oh, goodness! I've got no idea. I suppose I'm somewhere between where you are and where you used to be. I never get to read the comics because the kid snatches them.

I have to admit I don't read the comics anymore because the letters to the editor are usually a lot more humorous.
Funny memory about Cathy. That one was a classic C fam strip that did received a lot of flak, as did Family Circus. Seriously with Family Circus----how can it still be around?

I used to read the comics every Sunday, but that was when I used to live at home and that was years ago. We don't get the paper. I used to like a few comics, but I can't think of the names of them right now.

I still love "The Family Circus"

My favorite has always been Baby Blues, but I think that it's because Zoe and Hammy have a similar relationship to what me and my brother had. I don't know that I particularly relate to any comic with my current life, though. Ugh, I don't like Cathy, though! They're all the same!

I am also a faithful reader of the comics. Love Baby Blues, Zits, Mother Goose and Grimm, Pearls before Swine, and LOVE Pickles. There's a couple I can't stand like Hi & Lois, Beetle Bailey, Marvin...I can go on. I actually had to fish my paper out of the garbage so I could give you my list.

THAT's a loyal reader - she fishes her soggy newspaper out :)

We have the authoritative collection of Calvin & Hobbes. And I grew up with Bloom County, a raving, rabid, liberal comic strip that I barely understood as a kid, but still find hysterically amusing. I still have my stuffed Opus penguin doll, too!

I don't read the comics but I could totally relate to that first one you have on here. I think you're quite funny.

My favorite Family Circus that I still quote today when frustrated is, "They didn't say I couldn't throw rocks at the ducks."

The mom and dad had been telling the littlest one not to do this and that...and next thing you know he is at a pond.

Thanks for your support!!! :)

I love the comics too! I love Family Circus and my mom is always showing me Cathy. She thinks we have a relationship much like Cathy and her mom, so we can often relate. I love the Doonesbury clip!

Sue Q reminded me of my deep and abiding love for all things Calvin, I feel like I need to apologize to Hobbes for leaving him out (who doesn't love the transmorgrifier?)

and Opus, Bill and the other Bloom County residents - they'll never be the same under new management :)

Bloom County was my all time fave. Esp Binckley and his interactions with his dad. I do love Pickles, though--I am not THAT mature--yet--but my parents are so it totally cracks me up. I love it when he includes a picture of the Oakland temple on the wall. How cool is that?

and when the kid wears his CTR shirt - gotta love it!

I love baby blues! We've got one on the fridge right now -- that shows here making disgusting healthy food after going to the farmers market, and the dad is saying, hey kids I thought you were supposed to distract her at the market! ha.ha. Yes, I make disgusting vegetables and stuff. I'm just starting to relate to zits as my daughter is starting hide in the bathroom, and not respond when I ask her questions.

I used to read the comics everyday. For better or worse was my favorite....but then they finished it and now are doing a flash back thing. Not a fan. SO I am refusing to read any more other than Garfield. Thats all.
